It’s a good time to be a White Lotus fan. Not only is Season 2 out right now, but The White Lotus Season 3 has also been officially greenlit by HBO.
The news was announced on Friday 18th November much to the delight of fans and there is no doubt audiences are counting down the days until the release.
Announcing the news, creator, writer, and director Mike White said in a statement, “There’s no place I’d rather work than on HBO, and there are no people I’d rather work with than Casey Bloys, Francesca Orsi, Nora Skinner, and their incredible team. I feel so fortunate to have this opportunity again and look forward to reuniting with my incredibly talented collaborators at The White Lotus .”

At the moment, The White Lotus Season 3 does not have an official release date yet.
However, given the pattern of the previous two seasons, fans can expect Season 3 to air in late 2023 or early 2024.
For The White Lotus Season 3, there will be a brand new line of hotel guests checking into a White Lotus Resort.
As the Emmy-winning show is an anthology, the drama created by Mike White will see a whole new cast. However, with Emmy-winner Jennifer Coolidge returning as Tanya McQuoid in Season 2, there’s a good chance some characters from Seasons 1 and 2 could make a comeback.
Speaking to Deadline, White said he couldn’t do The White Lotus without Coolidge, so fans should hope for more Tanya to come.
He said, “Jennifer is my girlfriend and everyone loved her in the first season and I was like, ‘I can’t go to Italy without Jennifer.’ And maybe it still is.
“Maybe you can’t go to Japan without Jennifer either. There are so many fun actors we’ve worked with so far, so it’s just who’s available.”
Season 1 starred Murray Bartlett, Sydney Sweeney, Alexandra Daddario, and Jake Lacy.
In Season 2, F. Murray Abraham, Michael Imperioli, and Adam DiMarco joined the cast alongside Meghann Fahy, Theo James, Aubrey Plaza, and Will Sharpe.
For now, the plot of The White Lotus Season 3 has been kept under wraps, although one thing is certain now. While season 1 takes place in Hawaii and season 2 in Sicily, Italy, the third episode takes place in a brand new location.
Francesca Orsi, Executive Vice President, of HBO Programming, Head of HBO Drama Series and Films, said: “Thinking about The White Lotus ‘ humble run-and-gun origins as a low-key pandemic production, it’s impossible not to be awestruck how Mike has directed one of the most vibrant and critically acclaimed shows. And yet it’s only in Season 2 that he’s reached new heights, which is the ultimate testament to Mike’s raw, unparalleled vision.
“His courage to explore the uncharted waters of the human psyche, coupled with his signature irreverent humor and bubbly directorial style, has us all dreaming of more vacation days at the resort we love. We couldn’t be more excited about getting the chance to collaborate on the third season.”
Creator White talked about alternative plots for The White Lotus in the past.
Ahead of Season 2, he told Entertainment Weekly his plans for Season 2 have completely changed, which means there’s already a potential Season 3 storyline waiting to be told.
Speaking of Bilderberg, the annual forum for global political leaders and industry experts, White said, “Originally, it [Season 2] was more like a Bilderberg conference, more about getting into some of the larger power dynamics there.
“But Sicily had a very different vibe than the idea I was proposing. That didn’t seem right.”
The White Lotus Season 2 airs every Sunday at 9 p.m. on HBO and HBO Max.
